The Holy Grail of Cross Curricular Education

WHERE THEATRE AND OUTDOOR EXPLORATION COLLIDE

PlayGreen is Studio Cultivate’s exciting hybrid of outdoor theatre and garden exploration that aims to inspire young people to engage with outdoor spaces and discover the ways in which plants have shaped the world in which we live.

PlayGreen’s cross-curricular workshops immerse young people in story and space, harnessing natural instincts for play and building meaningful relationships with the natural world.

We deliver workshops across a wide-range of outdoor spaces from botanical gardens and parks, to cultural institutions, community centres and city streets! Each PlayGreen workshop is carefully tailored to its surroundings, enabling a participatory experience that is truly immersed in a specific story and space.

FRIARS & FRENZIES

Calm down Capulets! Mellow out Montagues! It's all kicking off in the streets of Verona, but maybe a plant-based potion could balance the humours of 'Romeo & Juliet'?

LOVE-IN-IDLENESS

Fallen for an ass? Riled a Fairy Queen? We've got the remedy! Plants and potions take centre stage in our 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' adventure.

PRINCESSES, PIRATES, MERCHANTS & WORMS

I have been on more visits to museums, parks and other venues than I care to remember, but have seldom experienced sessions which were pitched so perfectly and balanced learning new knowledge with fresh air and fun (and plants, of course).”

SCHOOL BOOKINGS

We love welcoming school groups to our workshops! Empowering young people to discover their individual and collective creative voices in the context of their class ensemble is exciting and rewarding for us all. PlayGreen workshops make for an excellent school trip (watch our video if you haven’t already!) or we can tailor our workshops to your school campus - encouraging pupils to deepen their connection and take ownership of the outdoor spaces surrounding them. Each PlayGreen workshop is a vibrant, curriculum enhancing experience with ambitious learning outcomes. See our FAQs section for further info on this, costing and Covid protocol and click below to get in contact with us.

Working with schools also presents the opportunity of ongoing, long-term engagement in the form of follow-up workshops, regular visits, space enhancement and even our CPD provision for teachers and staff!

We are proud to be part of the Artsmark Partnership Programme and adhere to their Code of Practice. If your school is registered, let us know and we can be part of your Artsmark Journey

“Working with Studio Cultivate has been an absolute pleasure”

“They have devised well-paced, creative, entertaining and historically accurate theatrical and horticultural workshops and performances for schools and family visitors to the garden throughout the year.”

Do you want to bring a unique learning experience to your cultural venue? Does your institution have histories that need to be shared or updated? Well, we’re here to do just that. PlayGreen’s workshops have taken place on boats, in cathedrals, on farmland and in botanic gardens. If there’s a story to tell with a natural-world angle (and believe us, there usually is), we’re here to tell it.

Choose from one of our ‘off-the-peg’ workshops above or commission us to create a unique PlayGreen adventure that explores the stories of your venue.

Our workshops are aimed at Key Stages 2 + 3, but our audience groups are often a diverse mix of school groups and home schooled clubs. We encourage anyone to join in and we strive to make the day inclusive and fun for all.
